As the new calendar year gets underway, we leave behind the Chinese Year of the Snake and we approach the Year of the Horse, change is coming as a new chapter begins for Beneath the Canopy.
Beneath the Canopy beginnings
In 2025, myself and Cat decided to take our concept of "Beneath the Canopy" to another level and launch it as an official business. With this exciting and new chapter came a huge amount of work and juggling everything that needed to be done to make our business work. I was still running my own organisation, Danú Forest Bathing. I knew it made sense to invest my time and energy into only one project, but they were both so important to me, I kept both projects running side-by-side.
All work and no play...
Fast forward to December 2025. Cat and I were completely exhausted, having put so much time and energy into getting our little business off the ground, launching it to the public, cultivating a community and delivering nature connection to as many people as we could, using a variety of media. I was feeling torn between the two, knowing I was unable to run the two businesses which were essentially in competition with one another, not to mention promoting two brands.
Nature's wisdom
Earlier in the year, the Birch tree kept showing itself to me in various forms. Birch is the tree of new beginnings. I assumed this was showing up because I was turning 40. But as the year came to a close, the Chinese calendar kept nudging me... 2025 was the Year of the Snake; a chaotic year when we shed things that no longer serve us, as wonderful as they might be. 2026 is the Year of the Horse, where we take new ideas or dreams and run with them. I suddenly realised what the Birch had been trying to tell me!
Danú nestles Beneath the Canopy
On 20th December 2026 I made the decision to close Danú Forest Bathing as a business and join my Forest Bathing Buddy, Cat, full time Beneath the Canopy. Because let's face it, working with a pal is so much better than working on your own! Nothing will really change, I will continue to offer forest bathing experiences in Fernhill once or twice a month (starting in February) and my newsletters will still make their way to my subscribers' inboxes, just from a different email address. Of course, Cat and I will continue to bring you amazing events and resources to connect to nature in an easy and accessible way.
I'm looking forward to spending 2026 with you all Beneath the Canopy.
